Portuguese natural limestone for facades and wall cladding
MonteLuso Stone supplies Portuguese natural limestone from Central Portugal for facades and wall cladding. Direct from quarry to your site. We work with architects, developers, contractors and wholesalers who want a real stone wall — selected, prepared and delivered as a specified material rather than bought off a shelf.
Everything we supply comes from the same limestone tradition of Central Portugal, and the range is deliberately structured so that specification is a series of clear decisions rather than a catalogue search. You choose a tonal family, then a Format, then a Surface.
Three collections, three characters
Luminous Ivory is the light family. Its pale ivory ground returns daylight, so walls stay bright and quiet, and the collection is built around a genuine choice between Format — a dispersed irregular composition or a coursed rectangular layout — and Surface, where a hand-worked face offers a finer, more even alternative to the natural split face.
Sunset Gold is about warm tonal range. Within the same family the stone runs from soft sand and beige through honey to deeper, naturally oxidised ochre, so what you are really selecting is how much tonal movement the elevation should carry — from an animated golden wall to a calm, continuous beige field.
Alpine Heritage is the cool-toned family. Limestone inspired by alpine and rustic contemporary architecture. Blue-grey and neutral grey tones read as shadow on a broken face, giving elevations structure, depth and scale where warmer stone would recede. All three collections are shown together on the collections overview.
Format, Surface and specification
Formats are Irregular, with pieces typically around 25–35 cm across and dimensions and shapes varying; Rectangular, coursed in heights of 10, 15 or 20 cm with lengths up to 60 cm agreed to suit the project; and Multiformat, where rectangular pieces are combined with smaller complementary pieces, the exact mix varying between deliveries. Surfaces are Natural Split-Face and Hand-Chiseled. Natural tonal variation is part of the material in every case.
Known indicative pallet yields are about 25, 20 and 15 m² for 2–3, 4–6 and 6–8 cm, with an average pallet weight of 1,300–2,500 kg; every thickness option is listed in the technical specifications table. Final setting out is agreed with the project designer and an experienced stone installer, representative samples or a project mock-up may help confirm appearance, and fixing method and joint design depend on the substrate and project conditions.
Our technical articles cover the split-face surface, cold-climate use and how Portuguese limestone compares with travertine. When you have areas, thickness and a collection in mind, contact us.
