Limestone inspired by alpine and rustic contemporary architecture.
Alpine Heritage is the cool and mixed colour family: blue-grey Alpine Blue, light grey Alpine Gray and Alpine Mixed, which combines grey and tan pieces. Alpine Blue and Alpine Gray come in Irregular format; Alpine Mixed comes in Multiformat — rectangular pieces combined with smaller complementary pieces, the exact mix varying. All carry a natural split-face surface for facades, boundary walls and interior walls that call for more tonal contrast.

ExploreLimestone inspired by alpine and rustic contemporary architecture. Alpine Heritage is our cool-toned family of Portuguese natural limestone from Central Portugal, for facades and wall cladding — and it is the collection to reach for when a wall needs to look structural rather than decorative.
Three things define it: cooler tones, visible structure and scale. The blue-grey and neutral grey grounds read as shadow on a broken face, which gives the surface depth; the natural tonal variation between pieces creates a sense of built mass rather than a flat applied colour; and the collection holds its own on large or prominent elevations where warmer, lighter stone would recede. That combination is what connects it to traditional mountain masonry while keeping it usable in plainly contemporary buildings — plinths and base courses, gable and chimney walls, entrance elevations, and interior walls that anchor a room.
Choosing within the collection
The three pieces differ in tonal contrast and in how the wall is composed.
Alpine Blue Irregular is the high-contrast option. Its blue-grey ground shows clear tonal steps between lighter and darker pieces, so the elevation gains visible depth and a masonry-like presence. It is supplied with varying dimensions and shapes, typically around 25–35 cm across, laid without repeating courses, which distributes the darker pieces naturally across the surface.
Alpine Gray Irregular shares that Format and the Natural Split-Face surface but is a neutral grey with a much narrower tonal step, so the wall reads as one even grey field with texture. It is the better neighbour for materials that are themselves precise or dark — exposed concrete, zinc, dark timber, powder-coated aluminium — and it holds long runs without contrast accumulating visually. The decision between these two is simply how much depth and contrast the elevation should carry.
Alpine Mixed Multiformat is the most active surface in the collection because two variables move together. Rectangular pieces are combined with smaller complementary pieces, with the exact mix varying between deliveries, so the coursing is broken; and the cooler tonal range adds clear variation from piece to piece. It reads as traditional alpine masonry translated into a contemporary elevation, and it is usually most effective on defined feature areas rather than across every face of a building.
Specification and next steps
Known indicative pallet yields are about 25, 20 and 15 m² for 2–3, 4–6 and 6–8 cm, with an average pallet weight of 1,300–2,500 kg; every thickness option is listed in the technical specifications table. Final setting out and the distribution of lighter and darker pieces are agreed with the project designer and an experienced stone installer, representative samples or a project mock-up may help confirm the balance, and fixing method and joint design depend on the substrate and project conditions.
