Alpine Gray Irregular is the neutral grey in the Alpine Heritage family: Portuguese natural limestone from Central Portugal, supplied with a Natural Split-Face surface for facades and wall cladding. Its tonal variation is present but narrow, so the wall reads as one even grey field with texture rather than as a play of light and dark stones.
An even, neutral grey across the elevation
That evenness is its purpose. A quiet grey stone sits comfortably beside materials that are themselves precise or dark — exposed concrete, zinc and standing-seam metal, dark timber joinery, powder-coated aluminium — and it lets those elements stay dominant while still giving the elevation a natural surface. It also holds large areas well, because there is no strong contrast to accumulate visually over a long run.
The Format is Irregular: pieces typically around 25–35 cm across, dimensions and shapes varying, laid without repeating courses, so the split-face relief provides the movement that the tone deliberately does not.
Alpine Gray compared with Alpine Blue Irregular
The decision to make is against Alpine Blue Irregular, which shares Format, surface and collection but shows a distinctly stronger blue-grey contrast between pieces. Choose Alpine Gray for a neutral, restrained wall and Alpine Blue where visible depth and contrast are wanted. If mixed piece sizes are of interest, Alpine Mixed Multiformat covers that within the same collection.
Thicknesses and pallet quantities for AG/IR
Known indicative pallet yields are about 25, 20 and 15 m² for 2–3, 4–6 and 6–8 cm, with an average pallet weight of 1,300–2,500 kg; every thickness option is listed in the technical specifications table. Final setting out is agreed with the project designer and an experienced stone installer, and fixing method and joint design depend on the substrate and project conditions.
