Luminous Ivory Hand-Chiseled Rectangular is the Surface variant of the coursed ivory limestone: Portuguese natural limestone from Central Portugal, supplied in the Rectangular format, coursed in heights of 10, 15 or 20 cm with lengths up to 60 cm agreed to suit the project, for facades and wall cladding. The Format is the same as the rectangular split-face piece; what changes is the face itself.
Hand-Chiseled surface: worked by hand, not broken
A Hand-Chiseled surface is worked by hand rather than left as a cleaved break. The result is a finer, more even texture with shallower and more consistent relief across the piece, so the wall reads as a worked stone surface with a controlled grain instead of a naturally broken one. Because the relief is shallower, shadows are shorter and the pale ivory tone stays dominant, which keeps large areas calm and makes the surface comfortable at close viewing distance.
That makes it a considered choice for interiors, hallways, stair walls, reception areas, sheltered entrances and loggias, and for exterior areas seen and touched at arm's length rather than only from the street.
Hand-Chiseled or natural split-face: LI/HC next to LI/RT
The decision between this piece and Luminous Ivory Rectangular is purely a Surface decision, as both share the same Format, the same collection and the same tonal family — a comparison best made on physical samples, since the difference is in relief depth and grain rather than in colour. If you want the same hand-worked calm in a dispersed layout, the alternative composition is Luminous Ivory Irregular, which keeps the split face but drops the coursing.
Thicknesses for the hand-worked surface
Known indicative pallet yields are about 25, 20 and 15 m² for 2–3, 4–6 and 6–8 cm, with an average pallet weight of 1,300–2,500 kg; every thickness option is listed in the technical specifications table. Setting out and jointing are agreed with the project designer and an experienced stone installer, and fixing method and joint design depend on the substrate and project conditions.
How the two surface options relate
