Sunset Gold

Earthy · Biophilic · Sun-Drenched · Oxidized Heritage

Golden limestone with natural oxidized tones and sun-washed character.

Sunset Gold is the warm colour family: golden-ochre Sunset Gold and lighter Sunset Beige, both with natural oxidised tones that vary from piece to piece. Sunset Gold comes in Irregular format; Sunset Beige comes in Irregular and in Multiformat, where rectangular pieces are combined with smaller complementary pieces. All carry a natural split-face surface and suit facades and exterior and interior walls where a warm, lively surface is wanted.

Sunset Gold is the warm family in our range: Portuguese natural limestone from Central Portugal, for facades and wall cladding. The organising idea of the collection is its tonal range. Within the same family the stone moves from soft sand and beige through honey and straw to deeper, naturally oxidised ochre — and how much of that range a wall carries is precisely what you are choosing between.

That makes Sunset Gold a collection about warmth as a design decision. Warm stone changes noticeably with the light: it is at its deepest in low evening sun and at its softest under overcast sky, so an elevation built from it is never quite static. It works with planting and timber, with terracotta and lime render, and as a natural counterweight to pale or grey materials, which is why it is often chosen for sun-facing façades, garden and pool surrounds, terrace and courtyard walls, and interior walls that need warmth against concrete or oak.

Choosing within the collection

Three pieces cover the range, and they differ in how much tonal movement they carry and how the wall is composed.

Sunset Gold Irregular is the strongest warm character in the collection. Its golden ground carries the oxidised markings that give the family its name, so tone changes clearly from piece to piece. Supplied with varying dimensions and shapes, typically around 25–35 cm across and laid without a repeating course, both tone and outline vary — which is why it produces the most animated of the three walls.

Sunset Beige Irregular is the quieter answer. It keeps the warm undertone but within a narrower band of soft beige and sand, without the deeper markings, so neighbouring pieces sit close together in tone and the Natural Split-Face relief becomes the thing you notice rather than the colour. It is the more comfortable choice on very large areas and on elevations that already carry visual interest elsewhere.

Sunset Beige Multiformat changes the other variable. Rectangular pieces are combined with smaller complementary pieces, with the exact mix varying between deliveries, so the wall is built from several sizes at once. Horizontal lines form and then step, producing broken courses that sit between the order of a rectangular layout and the freedom of an irregular one — with the soft beige tone keeping the effect architectural rather than busy.

So: Sunset Gold Irregular for tonal warmth and movement, Sunset Beige Irregular for a calm continuous field, and Sunset Beige Multiformat when the interest should come from the mix of piece sizes.

Specification and next steps

Known indicative pallet yields are about 25, 20 and 15 m² for 2–3, 4–6 and 6–8 cm, with an average pallet weight of 1,300–2,500 kg; every thickness option is listed in the technical specifications table. Because the warm range is wide, distribution of pieces during setting out is normally discussed with an experienced stone installer, and representative samples or a project mock-up may help confirm how the tonal range reads across a full wall.
