Practical guides for specifiers and buyers, covering colour, format, surface and thickness.
Luminous Ivory Irregular is Portuguese natural limestone from Central Portugal, supplied with a Natural Split-Face surface for facades and wall cladding. The pale ivory ground is what makes this piece behave differently from darker stone: because the base tone is light, the broken face reads as fine texture and gentle shadow rather than as heavy relief, and the wall keeps its quiet character even in strong sunlight.
Irregular format: an elevation without repeating courses
The defining property here is the Format. Irregular means every piece arrives with its own outline, with pieces typically around 25–35 cm across and both dimensions and shapes varying from piece to piece. The finished elevation therefore has no repeating horizontal line. Joints change direction continuously, larger pieces can be balanced against smaller ones, and the eye reads one continuous stone surface instead of a module. That dispersed composition is forgiving on long, uninterrupted areas, where a strict repeat would draw attention to any deviation.
Typical situations include boundary and courtyard walls, garden and terrace walls, wide entrance elevations, and interior feature walls where a soft, non-mechanical surface is wanted behind furniture or joinery.
Choosing between LI/IR and Luminous Ivory Rectangular
If you like the ivory tone but want an ordered, coursed layout instead, compare this piece with Luminous Ivory Rectangular: both share the same tonal family and the same natural split-face character, so the decision between them is one of composition rather than colour.
Thicknesses and setting out for irregular pieces
Known indicative pallet yields are about 25, 20 and 15 m² for 2–3, 4–6 and 6–8 cm, with an average pallet weight of 1,300–2,500 kg; every thickness option is listed in the technical specifications table. Final setting out is agreed with the project designer and an experienced stone installer, representative samples or a project mock-up may help confirm appearance, and fixing method and joint design depend on the substrate and project conditions.
More on the split-face texture and the collection
The texture itself is explained in more depth in our guide to split-face limestone cladding, and the wider family is shown on the Luminous Ivory collection page. To discuss a specific elevation, contact us.
